The Disney hotels are classified in three separate groups. The deluxe, which is the priciest. The moderate, which is slightly cheaper. And the value resorts which are least expensive. With so many choices of where to stay it's hard to make a decision. If it is your first time coming to Disney but don't want to spend too much money on a hotel, I would choose a moderate resort. It has all the amenities and beauty of a deluxe but much more affordable. An easy favorite Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside. Port Orleans Riverside (once upon a time known as Dixie Landings) is really something to see. Sitting on the shores of Sassagoula river are large white plantation style mansions that remind me of Gone with the wind. This area of the resort is called Magnolia bend. Looking across the river to the opposite side of the resort is Alligator bayou where you will find large Cajun themed buildings and winding paths. Riverside is quiet and peaceful and the most picturesque of all the moderates. You can take a relaxing boat ride to Disney Springs and see some other resorts along the way. One of the best parts of Port Orleans is Ol' Man Island. The main pool of the resort has a water slide, hot tub, and bar to relax after a long day at the park. There are also private pools spaced all over the resort with adjacent laundry facilities. Riverside Mill is the quick service restaurant for the resort, and it has the most options of all the moderate resorts when it comes to food! There is also a sit down (Boat Rights Dining hall) and a bar with appetizers. At night there is even live entertainment in the bar! All in all with 2,048 rooms Port Orleans Riverside is one of the larger resorts and by far the most beautiful.
